AT CITYWIDE WE BELEIVE PROVIDING SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES GOES WELL BEYOND THE VEHICLE We are committed to excellence in serving all customers with disabilities through;
a. Proper wheel chair accessible vehicles b. Communication with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.
b. Telephone Communication - Citywide Taxi staff will communicate with customers over the telephone in clear and plain language and to speak clearly and slowly. We will offer to communicate with customers by offering alternate forms such as e-mail, fax, or relay services should telephone communication not be suitable to their communication needs or is not available.
c. Assistive Devices - We are committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use, or benefit from our taxi services. We will ensure that our staff and drivers are trained and familiar with the various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our taxi services.
d. Service Dogs - Citywide Taxi welcomes people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal and drivers will be trained on how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a guide dog or service animal.
A ‘guide dog’ is a dog trained as a guide for a person with vision loss.
An animal is a ‘service animal’ for a person with a disability if it is readily apparent that the animal is used by the person for reasons relating to their disability or if the person provides a letter from a physician or a nurse confirming that the person requires the animal for reasons relating to the disability.
In the event that a Citywide Taxi driver or staff member is allergic to animals, alternative arrangements will be provided by assigning the service delivery to a driver or staff member who is not allergic to animals.
